This clamping device preferably serves to centre and restrain workpieces on machining supports, with a clamping element arranged on the machining support between the workpiece to be restrained and the machining support. The centring and restraining of the workpiece (1) with the machining support (2) is effected by reversible deformation of the clamping element (6). Serving this purpose is a clamping element (6) which is preferably formed as a sleeve, is made of a material with a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the parts to be formed, and is arranged in an intermediate space between machining support (2) and workpiece (1) in such a way that it restrains the workpiece (1) with the machining support (2) upon expansion. The expansion of the clamping element (6) is effected by heating up the same with inductive heating (3) or with other known heating devices via a current supply (5) which passes through the machining support (2). <IMAGE>
