PURPOSE:To improve yield while assuring the ductility and strength of a strip material by cooling at least the outside peripheral edge of the strip in the stage of winding and welding the strip to a core material to<=150 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:A water releasing nozzle for cooling the outside peripheral part of the strip is provided to a strip feeder 6 of an apparatus for producing spiral fins used heretofore. While a chuck 5 is rotated, a traveling carriage 4 is run and the strip 2 is delivered so as to be wound around the pipe 1 which is the core material. The pipe 1 and the strip 2 are welded by a welding machine and at the same time, pressure water is passed to the water releasing nozzle to cool the outside peripheral part of the fins. The quality and yield are improved by the above-mentioned method.
