PURPOSE:To prevent fog and to increase the maximum density of developed color by processing a sensitive material contg. silver halide particles made practically of silver chloride with a color developing soln. contg. a specified compound and having a specified concn. of sulfite. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide emulsion layer contg. silver halide particles made practically of silver chloride is processed with a color developing soln. contg. one or more kinds of compounds selected among compounds represented by formulae I, II, III. The concn. of sulfite in the developing soln. is <=4X10<-3> mole per 1l developing soln. In formula I, each of R<1> and R<2> is 1-3C alkyl. In formulae II, III, each of R1-R4 is H, halogen, sulfonic acid, 1-7C alkyl, -OR5, phenyl or the like and R5 is H or 1-18C alkyl. Thus, a sensitive material can be rapidly processed with the color developing soln. having superior shelf stability and superior photographic characteristics such as high maximum density of developed color can be obtd. without causing fog. |
