PURPOSE:To miniaturize the titled tester and to dispense with a grasping jig, by providing a first load means for generating electromagnetic force in the first direction and a second load means for generating electromagnetic force in the second direction repulsive against the aforementioned electromagnetic force. CONSTITUTION:When a DC current is supplied to coils 2, 3, electromagnetic forces F1, F2 generated in the coils 2, 3 of respective regions repulse each other across a boundary surface PL and the load corresponding to said repulsive force acts on a test piece 1. If the voltages corresponding to a desired load pattern are outputted from load pattern setting devices 6, 7, the load corresponding to said load pattern can applied to the test piece 1. If both ends of the test piece 1 are made free, tensile load can be applied. Further, if both ends of the test piece 1 are threaded with both inner and outer ends of holders 10a, 10b each comprising a magnetic material having large mass and a coil 13 is wound around the holder 10a in the first direction, load to be applied obtained when a supply current I and the number N of windings of the coil are made constant can be increased and a novel tester being miniaturized can be obtained.
