The object and aim of the invention is to develop a structural lightweight construction element, in particular for mobile units, in which the outlay for aluminium is minimised. This is achieved by means of a sandwich construction element with metal cover layer which is based on a known support structure with insulating layer and, according to the invention, consists on at least one side of a metal foil and/or a metal sheet of 0.05 to 0.2 mm thickness and at least one web which comprises a boiling-water-resistantly bound cellulose-based fibre material which is adhesively bonded to said metal foil over its entire surface by means of an irreversibly curing adhesive.
