The field of application of the invention is motor vehicle technology. Objects for application are devices which permit automatic control of the beam width of motor vehicle headlights as a function of the charge state of the vehicle. The objective is to provide an adjustment device for motor vehicle headlights which has a high degree of climate-proofness (resistance to climate changes) as well as shock and impact resistance, and is distinguished by low mass and optimum protection against dust and spray water. The object is to develop an adjustment device with which the relative change in distance between chassis and frame is detected and the change in distance is assigned to a specific headlight adjustment by conversion into appropriate electrical signals using a logic device arranged downstream. <IMAGE>
