<p>PURPOSE:To save effectively the consumption of electric power by using ferrous sulfate as an anodic depolarizer, and reducing the electrolytic voltage in the electrolytic production of zinc. CONSTITUTION:A cathode 1 for depositing zinc and an anode 2 for converting a bivalent iron ion into a trivalent iron ion are arranged in an electrolytic cell vessel 9, and the cathode 1 and the anode 2 are separated with a separator 5 such as an ion exchange membrane. An aq. mixed soln. consisting of sulfuric acid and zinc sulfate is supplied into the cathode 1 side of a vessel 9 as a cathodic electrolyte 3, and an aq. mixed soln. consisting of sulfuric acid and ferrous sulfate is supplied into the anode 2 side as an anodic electrolyte 4. A DC current is supplied between the cathode 1 and the anode 2 under said conditions, and the zinc is electrolytically deposited on the cathode 1 and ferric sulfate is formed on the anode 2. In addition, iron sulfate (II) ammonium and ammonium sulfate can be added to the anodic electrolyte 4.</p> |
