PURPOSE:To enable a beginner or an expert to obtain easily the final processed image by providing a control by-pass means that by-passes the reading and display control of a display control means according to a designation. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 2 stores input images in an image memory 4 and then displays them on a display device 7. When an edge extraction processing command is inputted from a command input device 5, the CPU 2 reads one or more of a sample image 61 and its edge extracted key sample images 62, 63... out of an image file 6 and displays them at a part of the device 7 together with their corresponding parameters. Thus a beginner can grasp each processing effect before designating the original processing parameter. While an expert sets the read status of an interface 10 to a by-pass mode via a line 100 by a command given from the device 5. Thus the CPU 2 by-passes the reading and display control of the sample images.
