PURPOSE:To reduce both the manhour and variance and also to improve the accuracy of an azimuth angle with production of a magnetic head, by setting the positions of head core blocks so that the prescribed points of these blocks are arrayed in the moving direction of a straight shift stage, then slicing plural blocks in parallel toward the moving direction. CONSTITUTION:The head core blocks 13a-13e are arrayed in parallel on a mounting stage 12, therefore, the azimuth angles are substantially set the same value just by setting the azimuth angle theta of the head core block set at the end, for example, of the block array. When the angle theta is set, the stage 12 is turned so that a means which backs up a single head core block or the array of these blocks can be viewed by both microscopes 15 and 16 that are previously positioned by a reference plate 17. While the position in lengthwise direction of each head core block is set to set the slicing direction while the prescribed point of each head core block is viewed by one of both microscopes. Then those set blocks 13a-13e are all sliced in the prescribed direction.
