PURPOSE:To obtain a nail enamel free from precipitation of inorganic pigment and iridescent agent and having excellent stability with time, film property and applicability, by compounding an organic bentonite and/or organic montmorillonite and hydrophobic silica as essential components to a nail enamel base. CONSTITUTION:The objective nail enamel can be produced by compounding a nail enamel base with (A) an organic bentonite or organic montmorillonite (a substance produced by chemically bonding a cationic surfactant and a nonionic higher organic polar compound to bentonite or montmorillonite known as an organically modified clay mineral) and (B) a hydrophobic silica as essen tial components. The amounts of the components A and B are preferably 0.1-5.0wt% and 0.1-1.0wt%, respectively. EFFECT:Resistant to discoloration of organic pigment.
