PURPOSE:To enable a printing plate to be mounted and dismounted rapidly and with a small-type device without requiring manual operations, by providing a pair of pins fitted to gripper cam shafts on the plate tail side and the gripper side, a rotatable sector gear support member at the center of a plate cylinder, and first and second drivers for opposing a sector gear to one of the pinions or for engaging and disengaging the sector gear from one of the pinions. CONSTITUTION:A pair of pinions 31e, 31r are fitted respectively to gripper cam shafts 11e, 11r on the plate tail side and the gripper side, and a sector gear support member 14 is provided which can be rotated with the axis of a plate cylinder as a center. First and second drivers 19, 24 are provided for opposing a sector gear 27 to one of the pinions 31e, 31r of for engaging and disengaging the sector gear 27 from one of the pinions. When mounting a printing plate onto the plate cylinder, the cylinder is stopped at a new plate mounting position, then a plate-gripping operation on the new plate gripping side is carried out by the sector gear 27, the pinions 31e, 31r and the first and second drivers 19, 24, the plate is wrapped around the plate cylinder, and a plate-gripping operation on the plate tail side is performed, thereby completing mounting. Accordingly, the printing plate can be mounted and dismounted easily, speedily and with a small-type device without requiring manual operation.
