PURPOSE:To eliminate a remaining core automatically and effectively after splicing papers, by providing a remaining core receiving unit at the tip end of a traverser, a remaining core push unit and a remaining core discharging guide with a remaining core handling unit for discharging a remaining core after splicing papers in a printing machine. CONSTITUTION:A turret arm 2 is pivotally secured to a frame 10 of a paper feed unit of a printing machine and lifter 12 is mounted on the lower floor of the paper feed unit. Rails 16 for guiding a traverser 15 are attached on the table 13 of the lifter 12 and a remaining core receiving unit 22 is formed at the front portion of a base plate 20. The remaining core receiving unit 22 has a remaining core receiving groove 23, a plurality pairs of remaining core discharging rollers being projecting from and falling into the receiving groove. In addition, a swing arm 29, a cam follower 30 and a cam plate 31 serve as a mechanism for moving the discharging rollers 24 upwardly and downwardly. Further, rollers 62 for guiding a remaining core C are disposed at the opposite side of a hydraulic cylinder 60 serving as a remaining core pushing unit.
