PURPOSE:To prevent a toner image which is transferred before from being transferred and stuck back on a photosensitive body by providing a photosensitive body charge eliminating device between a developing device and a transfer charger. CONSTITUTION:When a positive and a negative image are transferred one over the other, images are formed on the (-) charged photosensitive body 1 with (+) toner and transferred to transfer paper. When an image is transferred over the toner image, toner is changed in polarity by being charged electrostatically to a (-) charged by a before-transfer charger 10. At this time, the photosensitive body 1 is also charged with a (-) charge. Then, the charge of the photosensitive body 1 is removed by the photosensitive body charge erasing device 12, e.g. discharging lamp. In this case, the charge of the toner is not erased. The toner image on the photosensitive body 1 is transferred over the last toner image on the transfer paper by a transfer charger 5 through the operation of the (+) potential after said charge erasure.
