PURPOSE:To reduce the distortions of the reproduced analog signal that are caused by the excessive correction by using the error probability information on a decoding mode and the weight of each signal block to decide the necessity for correction of the word value. CONSTITUTION:A decoder 6 first calculates the error symbol number NZ from the input signal and then delivers '0' in the form of the error probability information 6b because no error symbol exists when the number NZ is equal to '0' and the symbol reliability is high. While the single error correction is carried out when the NZ is equal to '1' and '0' is delivered as the information 6b because the error correction probability is small with the single error correction. Then the double error correction is carried out when the number NZ is equal to 2. In this case, '1' is delivered as the information 6b because the error correction probability is large. An error symbol is always included when the NZ is equal to >=3 and 2 is delivered as the information 6b. However the rearrangement like the interleave, etc. is usually carried out in a coding mode. Then the information 6b is delivered in response to the symbol delivered from the decoder 6.
