PURPOSE:To prevent fogging of a toner and leakage of the toner to the outside of a developing device and to obtain a copied image having good quality by ending the contact of a developer with the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrying body in the position where a developing electrode is in increasing proximity to the surface of the electrostatic latent image carrying body or in the position where the electrode is nearest said surface. CONSTITUTION:The developer conveyed on a developer conveying and guiding member 12 in an arrow (c) direction contacts the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 at the front end of the member 12 and develops the electrostatic latent image preliminarily formed on the surface of the drum 1. The developer contacts the outside peripheral face of a developing sleeve 10 at the same instant and is conveyed in an arrow (b) direction between the sleeve 10 and the member 12 according to the rotation of the sleeve 10. The developer is then scraped by a scraper 15 and is returned into a developing tank. The position x2 where the developer ends the contact with the surface of the drum 1 is the position where the sleeve 10 is in increasing proximity to the surface of the drum 1 and said position is slightly upper than the position x1 where both are nearest each other. |
