PURPOSE:To attain efficient correction in a short time by detecting the luminance distribution with respect to a single scanning line and correcting the convergence so that the luminance distribution forms a symmetrical distribution around one optical sensor without fail thereby avoiding complicated constitution and using 2-eye optical sensor pair. CONSTITUTION:The static convergence correcting device 1 is constituted that an optical sensor pair 4 is opposed to a detecting point on a screen 3 on which a video image is projected from 3 projecting tubes 2 and the output of the optical sensor pair 4 is fed to a correction circuit 6 via a discrimination circuit 5. The optical sensor pair 4, a couple of optical sensors 4a, 4b comprising photo transistors, is constituted diagonally on the corners of an imaginary square having a width for one scanning line. When the video image for one scanning line is opposed to the midpoint of both the optical sensors 4a, 4b, the static convergence correction is applied to bring the outputs of the comparison circuits 4b, 4c to a high level.
