PURPOSE:To enable distorted deformation of a packing to be properly set, by using a stopper, having a thickness larger by a fine amount than the thickness of the packing when it is in the limit strain, together with the packing, having super elasticity, and tightening a flange to be fixed. CONSTITUTION:An Ni alloy metal packing 1 of super elasticity with 56wt% Ti is mounted between flange parts 5 with a stainless steel ring 2 having a squared section. Thickness in the axial direction of the stainless steel ring 2 is set to about a value slightly exceeding the thickness of the metal packing 1 when it is in the limit strain. Consequently, the fellow flange parts 5 can be tightened by holding a proper degree of distorted deformation of the packing 1 preventing it from collapsing.
