The cable positioning device comprises a casing-type part (2) located in the insulator (1), fitted in an upwardly open track or fixed to the track surface, with an axially directed gap (3) through which the cable can be installed within the casing. The casing part inner surface is arc-shaped in its longitudinal direction so that the internal dia. of the central area of the casing part is the smallest, and that of its ends is the largest. The end edges of the casing part are rounded. The min. dia. of the casing part is pref. four to five times that of the cable, and likewise in comparison with the gap width. The casing part is of plastic or metal, or even metal lined with plastic or ceramic, and can be a slide surface lining firmly attached to the surface of the track (4).
