The stored-program control unit with stored operating system and with a programming unit for entering a user program has an input keyboard and a display panel (8, 9), on which the commands entered by actuating multifunction keys (3 to 7) of the input keyboard are displayed. The multifunction keys (3 to 7) are designed as soft keys, to which the operating system of the control unit assigns only functions which in the user program result in logic operations which are allowable within the predetermined operating system. <IMAGE>
