PURPOSE:To obtain a chlorinated resin, stable to heat and slightly coloring by decomposition in melting while heating, by chlorinating vinyl chloride based resin, washing the chlorinated resin with water, filtering the washed resin to form a cake, washing the cake with pure water and drying the washed resin. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl chloride based resin is chlorinated preferably in the aqueous phase to give normally 60-70wt% chlorine content. The chlorinated vinyl chloride based resin is then washed with water to remove the unreacted chlorine and hydrochloric acid formed as a by-produce present in the above- mentioned resin. The resultant washed resin is then filtered to form the above- mentioned chlorinated vinyl chloride based resin into a cake, which is then washed with pure water having >=20kOMEGA specific resistance in an amount of normally 4-15 times based on the cake and dried.
