The connection, deflection or branching equipment is for a pipe comprising an inner tube for the medium handled and a concentric outer one, the intervening space being under vacuum or pressure and monitored. Both tubes are preferably of metal. The bends, junction pieces etc. (23) are double-skinned and coupled by flanges (25,22) to the pipe (9). The annular space (21) in the latter is connected to that (27) in the bend etc. by a pipe (29) containing a stop valve (32).
