PURPOSE:To enable the sequence and timing of discharging old and new media to be arbitrarily controlled, by providing a plurality of momentary retracting parts for a medium to be printed at a printing part. CONSTITUTION:The medium is fed in through an inlet/outlet port 18, data are read from a magnetic stripe of the medium by a reader-writer 14, and the medium is fed to the printing part 12, where printing is conducted. When the medium has no margin and unprinted information is present, the medium is saved into the mementary retracting part 16, a new medium is let out from a medium letout part 10, and the subsequent printing is conducted on the new medium. Further, the new medium is fed to the reader-writer 14, where magnetic recording is conducted, and then the new medium is saved into a momentary retracting part 22. Thereafter, the old medium in the retracting part 16 is started being fed, the magnetic stripe data thereof is made invalid by the reader-writer 14, and the old medium is discharged to the port 18. Simultaneously with the discharge, the new medium in the retracting part 22 is also discharged, whereby the old medium and the new medium can be sequentially discharged to the port 18, so that the customer can receive both of the media without fail before leaving. |
