ANTIGEN RELATED TO ENVELOPE GLYCOPROTEIN OF AIDS VIRUS AND MANUFACTURE AND APPLICATION THEREOF

Application for first certificate of addition to Patent Application No. 84/16,013 filed on 18th October 1984. The invention relates to antigens which are precursors of the glycoprotein having a molecular weight of the order of 110,000 belonging to the envelope of the AIDS virus. This antigen may be detected by labelling the virus with a high concentration of [<35>S]cysteine. The invention relates still more especially to a method employing the abovementioned precursor antigens for diagnosis of the presence of antibodies against the etiological agents of AIDS in the serum of patients suffering from AIDS or LAS or of asymptomatic virus carriers.
