PURPOSE:To provide the high strength with a thoroughly cured casting mold and to obtain a high-manganese steel casting in a good surface condition by compounding a specific ratio each of an acid curing type synthetic resin and acid curing agent to olivine sand calcined in a specific temp. range thereby forming a self-curing casting mold. CONSTITUTION:The olivine sand which is basic is ground to about 50-30 mesh and is calcined at about 1,000-1,200 deg.C at which the refractoriness is not decreased to oxidize the surface. The casting mold is molded by compounding about 0.5-3.0wt% acid curing type synthetic resin binder such as furan resin and acid curing agent such as xylene sulfonic acid at about 30-80wt% with respect to the binder to the calcined powder. The bonding deterioration by the acidicity is obviated and the secure casting mold is obtd. The formation of 2MnO.SiO2 by reacting with the molten high-manganese steel is obviated and the burn defects of the casting are eliminated. The good casting surface is thus obtd.
