PURPOSE:To surely prevent the rusting of each part of a car body having a closed cross section by sprinkling microcapsules contg. a rust preventive in the part after second coating and by allowing the rust preventive to flow in the narrow gap in the part by heat for baking after finish coating. CONSTITUTION:The panel of an automobile body is subjected to undercoating, second coating and baking. An adequate amount of microcapsules 34 cont. a rust preventive is sprinkled in each part having a closed cross section joined by welding, etc., the side seal 30 with a spray gun or the like. The microcapsules 34 are broken by heat for baking after finish coating to allow the rust preventive to flow out. Since the viscosity of the rust preventive is lowered by heating, the rust preventive fills the narrow gap 33a in the joint 33. The solvent in the rust preventive evaporates during the heating and the rust preventive hardens in the gap 33a. By this method, the formation of rust in the entire gap 33a can be prevented.
