PURPOSE:To shorten a data reproducing time by changing the direction of data array for each N rows (N: natural number of >=2) when data are recorded on an optical card in plural rows and then reproducing N rows of these data at a time. CONSTITUTION:When data are recorded in plural rows, the direction of data array is changed for each N rows. When these data are reproduced, N pieces of light beams are irradiated at the side of E of recording tracks 31-3N. Then an optical card 1 is shifted toward (a) for simultaneous reproduction of N rows of data. When the reproduction is through with tracks 31-3N, N pieces of beams are shifted toward (c) by N rows and irradiated to the side F of recording tracks 3N+1-32N. The card 1 is moved toward (b) for simultaneous reproduction of N rows of data up to the tracks 3N+1-32N. Thus the simultaneous reproduction of N rows of data is repeated to perform reproduction of data at a high speed with no idle feed.
