The present invention relates to an electrophotographic matrix printing process and to a device for carrying out this process. This device comprises a plane assembly of modulation plates arranged alternately along two parallel lines 10, 20, a light guide 30 intended for guiding the light emitted by a quasi point source 31 in the form of two convergent layers passing respectively through the two lines of modulators, and a rotary drum 32, the lateral surface of which consists of a photosensitive support 26. The optical guide 30 is formed from a plate having parallel plane faces and delimited by three edges 35, 36 and 39. The edge 35 has a toroidal shape, the centre of which corresponds to the position of the source 31, the second edge 36 has a cylindrically parabolic shape, and the third edge 39 consists of a dihedron, the edge 40 of which is parallel to the plane faces of the guide. This device makes it possible to execute writing line by line in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the photosensitive support. <IMAGE>
