PURPOSE:To change the relation between characters or the like displayed on a liquid crystal display element and the brightness of the background or the display status of colors of the background by forming a movable polarizing plate or a movable polarizing plate having a light reflecting plate. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal panel 8 obtained by sealing liquid crystal between an upper glass plate 9 and a lower glass plate 10 is constituted so as to execute TN mode display. A polarizing plate 11 and a light reflecting plate 12 are fixed on the lower part of the panel 8 to form a fixing part of the liquid crystal display element. A polarizing plate 14 having a rotational ring which can be rotated along the panel surface of the panel 8 is formed on the fixing part 13 of the liquid crystal display element. If the rotatable polarizing plate 8 is slowly turned when the polarizing axis of the movable polarizing plate 8 and that of the polarizing plate 12 form 90 deg. angle, the brightness is being gradually changed, and when the polarizing plate 80 is rotated by 90 deg., the display status is changed and the colors of the background are changed in accordance with the change of the brightness. |
