995,465. Sockets. ERIKSON TOOL CO. April 9, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1962], No. 14227/63. Headings B3B and B3K. A tool head comprises a transversely-grooved tapered shank member 3 engaging a tapered socket 1, a radially disposed cam member 12 mounted in the socket for rotation to force the shank into the socket, and means 18 in the socket to force the cam inwardly as it is rotated. The shank member 3 may be a boring or a milling tool, and is slotted to engage driving lugs 7. The shank is retained before and after locking by spring plungers 9 engaging a groove 8. As the cam 12 is rotated it either moves the shank to the clamped position or frees the frictional lock. |
