PURPOSE:To make possible excellent high density recording and reiterative use by irradiating light to a recording medium consisting of a monomolecular film or cumulative film of a specific metallic chelate compd. and desorbing metallic ions or atoms. CONSTITUTION:The light is applied to the prescribed position of the recording medium consisting of the monomolecular film or cumulative film of the metallic ligand or metallic chelate compd. which is isomerized from cis to trans by light 8 of a wavelength lambda1 and is isomerized from trans to cis by light 10 of a wavelength lambda2 to desorb the metallic ions or atoms 3 from the metallic chelate ligand or metallic chelate compd. by which recording and erasure are executed. More specifically, the two-layered cumulative chelate complex molecular film is disposed between, for example, substrates 5 and 7 and the pattern by lambda1 is irradiated thereto, by which the irradiated molecules are transferred to trans to release the ions 3 and the recording is executed. The reading and reproduction are then executed by monitor light 8 and the written record is erased by the irradiation of lambda210. The quantitative and stable high density optical recording as well as reiterative use are thus made possible. |
