<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a stereoscopic color display device having high quality by providing two layers of liquid crystal display panels which are subjected to orientation treatment in the directions different from each other and have the display patterns for the left eye and the right eye within the same plane so that the observer views the image through polarizing devices for the left eye and for the right eye. CONSTITUTION:The display patterns consisting of red parts 12a, 13d, green parts 12b, 13d and blue parts 12c, 13f are provided for the left eye and the right eye on three display substrates 11, 12, 13. The respective display pattern parts are subjected to the liquid crystal orientation in the different directions as shown by arrows A, B;C, D;E, F;G, H;I, J;K, L. A twist nematic liquid crystal is sealed between the substrates 11 and 12 as well as between the substrate 12 and 13, by which a liquid crystal display panel 4 is manufactured. The polarizing plates 6 having the plane of polarization in the arrow 6N direction are provided on the top and bottom surfaces of the display pattern N for the left eye of the panel 4 and the polarizing plates 7 having the plane of polarization in the arrow 7M direction are provided on the top and bottom surfaces of the display pattern M for the right eye. A color filter 5 is provided between the substrate 13 and the plates 7. The observer views the image through the plates 8 for the left eye and the plates 9 for the right eye.
