PURPOSE:To increase a stationary torque and an output torque even in a small size by providing a pair of stationary pole members opposed through an air gap to a rotor, and displacing obliquely the opposed ends of the members in a circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 4 which has two surfaces parallel to a rotational shaft 7 and is made of a magnetic material is mounted on the shaft 7. A pair of arcuate stationary pole members 2, 3 are disposed through an air gap to the rotor 4 on the outer periphery of the rotor 4, and an exciting coil 1 for exciting the members 2, 3 is coupled. The positions of the opposed ends 2b and 3b, 2d and 3d of the members 2, 3 are displaced circumferentially, and the intermediate is inclined. Thus, output torque and detent torque are shared by the upper and lower portions of the rotor 4 to effectively generate the torques.
