An ultrasound receiver (12) is inserted into the interior of a hollow body (13) which is to be tested. Thereafter, this hollow body is ensonified, using ultrasound, by externally arranged ultrasound transmitters (11). The presence of a leakage point (18) can be determined per se by comparing the sound pressure recorded by the ultrasound receiver with a predetermined threshold value. <IMAGE>
