PRODUCTION OF ORNAMENTAL PLATE

PURPOSE:To produce inexpensively an ornamental plate with which uneven working is obscure and which has luxurious appearance by forming successively a basic thermal spraying layer and pattern thermal spraying layer on the surface of a metallic plate then subjecting the surface to fine surface roughening. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an ordinary steel plate 1 which is used as a base material for the ornamental plate is subjected to a pretreatment and thereafter a stainless steel is thermally sprayed thereto to form the basic thermal spraying layer 2 having about 0.1-0.4mm thickness over the entire surface of the steel plate 1. A pattern mask for selective thermal spraying is then superposed on the layer 2 and the stainless steel is thermally sprayed only to the pattern part to form the pattern thermal spraying layer 3. The layer 3 may be formed to have a variety in appearance by forming the thermal spraying layer of a different material according to need. The surface of the layer 3 is further subjected to hairline working to form a fine roughened surface layer 4 by which the ornamental metallic plate provided with the rugged pattern is produced. The manufacture of the ornamental plate is thus made possible without pollution in a short period.
