PURPOSE:To prevent deformation of cylinder bores by coupling the external wall of the cylinder block with a siamese cylinder barrel at a specific point using a reinforcing deck, and thereby supporting the force applied to each cylinder barrel with this reinforcing deck. CONSTITUTION:In this siamese type cylinder block 1, a water jacket 3 having an opening in the connection surface 2a with cylinder head and a siamese cylinder barrel 5 of Al alloy whose whole circumference is facing said water jacket 3 are provided at the external wall 2 of a cylinder block of Al alloy. At the opening part of this water jacket 3, said external wall 2 and barrel 5 are coupled only by a pair of reinforcing decks 7 for each cylinder barrel 5a-5d, and thereby the cylinder block 1 is formed in closed deck type. Each pair of reinforcing decks 7 are so arranged as pinching each barrel 5a-5d on the extension from the diameter of each barrel 5a-5d right across the orientation of the barrel 5. |
