Low pressure cylinder of a steam turbine

In a low pressure cylinder (1) of a steam turbine a shaft (3) with work stages (4) is arranged on bearings (2). Following the last of these stages, viewed in the direction of movement of the steam, an exhaust steam connection (7) with an axial-radial diffuser (8) is fitted coaxial with the shaft (3). The diffuser is formed from concentrically arranged, conical surfaces (9 and 10) which are fixed by means of profiled reinforcing ribs (11, 14, 15 and 16) on the exhaust steam connection (7). The outside diameter (D2) of the ring in the inlet cross section of the axial-radial diffuser (8) is approximately 102% to approximately 118% of the outside diameter (D1) of the rotor wheel (6) of the final turbine stage. <IMAGE>
