Acid amide derivatives of the general formula (I> where R<1> is hydrogen or a C1-6 alkyl group and R<2> is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic ring or an unsubstituted or substituted C1-6 alkyl group, or R<1> and R<2> together denote an unsubstituted or substituted alkylene group, R<3> is hydrogen or a readily cleavable esterifying group, such as trialkylsilyl or trichloroethyl, and and salts of such derivatives are prepared by acylating an amine of the general formula (II) using an ester (III) (x is halogen).
