PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high efficiency, utilizing a microbial enzyme system, by treating N-carbamylamino acid with culture liquid of a microbial strain belonging to Pseudomonas genus and capable of asymmetrically hydrolyzing the carbamyl group of L-N-carbamylamino acid. CONSTITUTION:The DL-isomer or L-isomer of the N-carbamylamino acid of formula I (R is group of formula II, formula III, CH2OH, CH2CH2COOH, etc.) is treated with culture liquid, microbial cell, or treated cell or microorganisms belonging to Pseudomonas genus and capable of asymmetrically hydrolyzing the carbamyl group of L-N-carbamylamino acid [e.g. Pseudomonas DK-910 strain (FERM P-7473), etc.], to obtain the corresponding L-amino acid. |
