The fairly high temperature increase of contact materials made of silver-tin alloys subjected to internal oxidation, which is due to the high contact resistance of materials of this type, is eliminated. The high contact resistance is caused by a high concentration or supersaturation of metal oxides, including tin oxides, around the contact areas. Said high contact resistance is avoided by dissolved metals, prior to internal oxidation, being sublimed, reduced or extracted around the contact area. Said sublimation, as well as the other treatments, can be carried out after the internal oxidation of the materials.
