PURPOSE:To provide a titled cooling drum which has a high cooling effect and with which a product having high quality can be manufactured by using the outside circumferential surface of a metallic cylindrical body under rotation as a heat transmission surface and providing spiral cooling fluid passages between said surface and the base of the drum provided concentrically on the inside thereof. CONSTITUTION:The metallic cylindrical body 1 formed with the cooling fluid passages 2 by providing spiral fins 4 between the base 5 of the drum supported from the inside surface by means of spokes 9 projected from a revolving spindle 7 and the heat transmission surface 3 provided to the outside circumference thereof is rotatably supported via bearings 8 to a fixing part 11, thereby constituting the cooling drum. The cooling fluid such as fresh water supplied from an inlet plenum is passed to said passages 2 through a hole 13, a strainner 16, etc. and is discharged through a hole 13 and an outlet plenum 15. The angle of the fins 4 is adequately set from the flow rate of the above- mentioned fluid and the circumferential rotating speed of the body 1 to obviate the generation of the centrifugal force of the cooling fluid. The heat transmission surface 3 is thus thoroughly thinly formed and the satisfactory heat transmission is effected. |
