PURPOSE:To confirm whether a scanning beam is irradiated or not by providing a beam detector, reflecting mirror, etc., where the scanning beam traveling outside a specific range is passed. CONSTITUTION:Part of the laser beam within a beam scanning range 345 is guided to a beam detector 346 through a reflecting mirror 345. Therefore, a beam detector 346 detects the scanning laser beam in every horizontal scan by one surface of a mirror 313. Further, the remainder of said beam within the scanning range 348 mirror which is not incident on the mirror 345 illuminated the photosensitive body 301. In this case, the beam passed through the lens 314 does not illuminates the photosensitive body directly, but be reflected by reflecting mirrors 315 and 316 and guided to the photosensitive body. Then, the mirror 345 is fitted on a support member 456 placed outside the beam incident area through a leaf spring with a screw 455, and a fine adjusting screw 457 is provided under this spring 454 to vary the angle of the mirror 345.
