PURPOSE:To save the weight of the captioned shaft without lowering is strength, by increasing the diameter and skin thickness of the shaft at its center, gradually decreasing those toward outer ends thereof and increasing the skin thickness at the areas where screws etc. are disposed, in rear wheel drive shaft of an off- road 3 or 4 sheeled vehicle whose said drive shaft is formed by joining hollow right and left halves of the shaft. CONSTITUTION:Central joining parts 10a and 10b of hollow left and right halves of a shaft are formed thicker in skin and larger in diameter, and those halves are gradually tapering down to smaller in diameter and thinner in skin toward outer ends. Also in such positions for disposing shaft bearing supports 5, splines 6 and 7, and screws 8 where larger load is expected skin thickness is formed larger in according to the applied load. By such constitution, the weight can be saved without lowering the strength, taking load distribution into careful consideration. |
