PURPOSE:To give excellent flame resistance free of melt dripping on burning, by incorporating a specified amount of sepiolite into a polyester resin composition consisting of a linear aromatic polyester, an organic halogen compound, an inorganic flame retarding assistant, etc. CONSTITUTION:A linear aromatic polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate), an organic halogen compound (e.g. brominated polycarbonate or brominated polystyrene), an inorganic flame retarding assistant (e.g. antimony trioxide or barium metuborate), an inorganic reinforcement (e.g. glass fibers or silica), and 0.1-10wt%, based on the composition, sepiolite are compounded to give a polyester resin composition having improved flame resistance. The sepiolite is a hydrous inosilicate mineral of the formula, naturally occurring in a serpentine rock. |
