PURPOSE:To produce in good yields a high-MW addition polymer of a cyclic ether of a low content of terminal unsaturated groups, by using lithium hexafluorophosphate as a catalyst for the addition reaction. CONSTITUTION:An active hydrogen-containing compound (A) (e.g., alcohol, carboxylic acid, phenol or polyester) is reacted with a three to five-membered cyclic ether in the presence of about 0.001-40wt%, based on component A, lithium hexafluorophosphate at a temperature of about -50-150 deg.C and a pressure of about -1-80kg/cm<2>G to form an addition polymer of the cyclic ether.
