PURPOSE:To improve the input power factor without a distortion in an output current waveform by controlling the output voltage of one of two sets of reversible converters connected in series in every phase by considering the maximum voltage capable of being output from the other converter when asymmetrically controlling the converters. CONSTITUTION:The primary windings 11, 21, 31 of input transformers 1-3 are connected with a 3-phase AC power source, and two sets of secondary windins 12, 13, 22, 23, 32, 33 are respectively connected with the AC input sides of reversible converters, 411, 412, 421, 422, 431, 432. When two sets of the converters connected is series in every phase are asymmetrically controlled, the output voltage of one converter is controlled to different maximum value in response to the forward conversion by considering the maximum voltage capable of being output from the other converter, and the output voltage of the other converter is controlled to the value obtained by subtracting the voltage command value of a cycloconverter, i.e., the command value of the output voltage as the phase converter. |
