摘要 PURPOSE:To enable to efficiently oscillate the laser beam of a wavelength of 1.54mum by a method wherein the erbium laser medium is performed a side-pumping by a light to generate from a light source for excitation, and at the same time, the erbium laser medium is performed an end-pumping by a laser beam, which is made to oscillate from the neodymium laser medium by the light source for excitation. CONSTITUTION:The light of a wavelength of 1.0mum among lights to generate from a flash lamp 2 is abosrbed in ytterbium ions being contained in an erbium laser medium 1 and the medium 1 is performed a side-pumping and is excited, and at the same time, the light of a wavelength of 0.55mum or so among the lights to generate from the lamp 2 is absorbed in neodymium ions being contained in a neodymium laser medium 3, the medium 3 is performed a side-pumping, the laser beam of a wavelength of 1.06mum made to oscillate from the neodymium medium 3 is absorbed in the ytterbium ions being contained in the medium 1 through mirrors 7 and 7' and the medium 1 is performed an end-pumping and is excited. As a result, the light of a wavelength of 0.1mum, which is directly absorbed in the ytterbium ions, and the light of a wavelength of 0.55mum, which is absorbed in the neodymium ions, among the luminous energies of the lamp 2 are utilized together for pumping the elbium laser beam.
