Serving trolley

The serving trolley is constructed in such a way that the food, for example cheese, which is placed on the resting surface under a hinged covering hood, is cooled by a refrigeration assembly 13 and additionally kept moist by an air humidifier 14 in such a way that no drying-out occurs which would take place under normal cooling. Rechargeable batteries 17 supply the air humidifier when the serving trolley is in operation, i.e. is rolled from one table to another in a restaurant. The refrigeration assembly is then switched off. However, the cold stored, in particular, in the water supply of the air humidifier prevents the food from becoming too warm during this not unduly long period. The latent heat likewise ensures an appropriate, slower warming. When the serving trolley is not in normal operation, it is supplied with electricity via a mains connection and the refrigeration assembly operates. The batteries are then charged. Considering a 24-hour rhythm, the period in which the serving trolley is not in normal use is very much longer than its use in the restaurant or the like. <IMAGE>
