PURPOSE:To cool a metallic strip so that temp. distribution in the direction of breadth of the strip is made uniform by providing a rotary runner by which cooling medium is flowed into the inside of a roll and together providing plural annular shut-off pieces for heat conduction which are freely slidable. CONSTITUTION:A runner 21 by which cooling medium is flowed into the inside of a roll 1 for cooling is provided to a shaft 10 and also plural annular shut-off pieces 3 for heat conduction are provided so that the pieces are brought into contact with the inner face of the roll 1. Cooling medium is supplied to the shaft 10 of said runner 21 from a pipe 7 and supplied to the inside of the roll 1 through a water-cooling hole 14 and said runner 21 is rotated and operated in the reverse direction to the rotary direction of the roll 1. In this state, metallic strips are continuously passed and cooled and the temp. distribution in the direction of breadth of the strips is detected with an indirect temp. detector. When a part being overcooling state appears in the roll 1, the strips are stopped temporarily to turn and operate a control bar 4 and after said shut-off pieces 3 are positioned to said part of cooling state, the strips are repassed. |
