PURPOSE:To simplify watertight structure by making an optical transmission member of an optical fiber, running its high-pressure side through the tapered hole part of a penetration metallic fitting and charging a sealing material therein, and easily finishing the end surface of the optical transmission member at the connection part. CONSTITUTION:The connection part of the optical transmission member which penetrates the penetration metallic fitting 18 running watertightly through the partition wall 16 of submarine equipment for isolating a high pressure side 12 and a low pressure side 14 from each other is made of the optical fiber. The through hole of the penetration metallic fitting 18 where the optical transmission member 26 runs consists of a tapered hole part 50a which increases in diameter toward the high pressure side 12, a small hole part 50b provided inside of it successively, and a large hole part 50c which is provided successively to the small hole part and contains the excessive part of the optical fiber. The optical fiber 48 is a bare optical fiber 48a in the tapered hole part 50a and small hole part 50b and the sealing material is charged therein. Thus, the end surface of the optical transmission member is finished easily and its watertight structure is simplified. |
