PURPOSE:To increase the recording amount per unit time by generating a signal enabling the recording in response to the output of a detecting means detecting that a recording head is settled at the moved position. CONSTITUTION:A cam 7 is turned and a head 3 is fed by one track pitch. It is detected by a detecting means 8 and its output signal is fed to a (-) input of a comparator 11. On the other hand, since a reference potential Vref is given to a (+) input of the comparator 11, a head moving signal is inputted to an AND circuit 12 while a minute vibrating component and noise component are eliminated. A gate circuit 14 is closed during this time and no video signal is inputted to the head 3. When the head moving signal is finished, the AND circuit 12 and the output of a gate signal forming circuit 13 goes to a high level in response to the input of a trigger signal and a signal enabling the recording is generated. Even if the time from the start of power application for the head movement until the recording is enabled is changed, the recording timing is decided in following thereto automatically.
